About us
Falmouth Futsal Club started as off-season pick-up futsal for teenagers. We wanted to provide a safe place for high school aged players to play futsal, and we pride ourselves in creating a supportive, non-judgmental environment. And there is no cost to players and their families.
Our mission is to develop a love of the game in a free, no-cost environment.
Our program continues to grow in scope. In addition to learning the game of futsal, we want kids to learn life skills for college and careers. A commitment to teamwork and collaboration and community service is asked of all participants.
so, what is futsal?
FUTSAL is the FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) version of Indoor Soccer played on basketball size courts all over the world
The origin of Futsal (Five-a-Side Soccer) can be traced back to Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1930 when Juan Carlos Ceriani devised a five-a-side version of soccer for youth competion in YMCAs. The game is played on basketball-sized courts, both indoors and out without the use of sidewalls.
“For the last two winters, I have been volunteering with Falmouth Futsal Club. It has been an absolute pleasure engaging with Falmouth youth and bringing them free access to futsal programming. The Club uses futsal as a means for kids to improve at soccer, learn how to work together, and become better leaders. While still in its early days, we are already reaching maximum capacity for our free, pick up sessions and with further support the Club will be able to engage many more kids in Falmouth. It's incredible to see the passion the kids bring for playing while getting the chance to simply play.”
